Seminole County, Fla. (December 6, 2024) – Seminole County Sheriff’s detectives are currently investigating a
fatal stabbing that occurred early this morning at home in the 2600 Block of Hibbard Trail in Chuluota.
At around 1:00 a.m., deputies responded to a call indicating that two individuals had suffered a stabbing.
Upon deputies’ arrival at the home where the incident occurred, the female was located deceased in the
home with numerous stab wounds; the male was at a neighbor’s house, where he fled to call 911. He was
transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to the leg. The suspect, who until recently had
been in a domestic partnership with the female victim, is believed to have broken into the home and attacked
the two victims. He fled the scene before deputies arrived. The only other person at the victim’s home was a
teenager, who was not harmed in the incident.
The suspect was located deceased approximately four hours later after being involved in a single-vehicle
traffic crash in the Orange County area of Fort Christmas Road. Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the
crash.
The female victim is identified as 40-year-old Kristin Stevens (DOB 7-27-84). The deceased suspect is identified
as 42-year-old James Christopher Lindsey (DOB 6-23-82).
This is an isolated domestic incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the area.
Stevens and Lindsey have a history of domestic violence incidents involving law enforcement. Most recently,
on November 6, 2024, Lindsey was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence Battery against Stevens. The
Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and State Attorney’s Office of the 18th Judicial Circuit requested that Lindsey
be placed on Domestic Violence EMPACT (GPS) monitoring, issued an increased bond, and have no contact/no
return conditions. Lindsey was issued a $1,000 bond with the condition of no contact and no return being
approved. EMPACT monitoring was not granted as a condition of his bond. Lindsey was scheduled to appear in
court today on his arraignment.
“This is a heartbreaking and traumatic incident that will have a lasting impact on families and a community,”
said Sheriff Dennis Lemma. “I am proud of our deputies’ quick response to the scene and our detectives working around the clock to put these cases together. Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones during this tough time. Our team will continue to work diligently to uncover the full details surrounding this case.”
