Sanford, FL (September 17, 2025): Sanford Police Investigators have arrested Jocquise Lavarsea Jarrells (D.O.B. 01/15/1993), on the charge of First Degree Premeditated Homicide, in connection with the June 8, 2025, murder of Christopher Lamar Houston (D.O.B. 09/26/2003).

On June 8, 2025, just before 6:30 PM, Sanford Police Officers responded to HCA Lake Monroe regarding a male, later identified as Christopher Lamar Houston, who arrived at the hospital suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Based on information received, officers also responded to the area of 12th Street and Pecan Avenue where the shooting reportedly took place. Shortly after, Jarrells contacted law enforcement at the Sanford Police Department and made the claim that he shot Christopher in self-defense.

Based on the investigation, Sanford Police Investigators could not substantiate Jarrells’ claim of self-defense. Jarrells’ claims were contradicted by witness testimony and evidence on scene, which revealed that Christopher was not a threat to Jarrells during this incident.

On September 17, 2025, as a result of the investigation, Sanford Police Investigators issued a warrant for Jarrells’ arrest for the charge of First Degree Premeditated Homicide.

On September 17, 2025, Jarrells was arrested by Sanford Police Officers and booked on the charge of First Degree Premeditated Homicide at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility.
