~Hit & Run Investigation – FHP Case Number: FHP24ON0073767~
On February 12, 2024, at approximately 9:35 P.M., FHP investigated a hit-and-run crash at the location of Poinciana Boulevard and State Road 535 (Vineland Road) in Kissimmee, Osceola County. P1 (48-year-old male from Kissimmee) was transported to HCA Florida Osceola Hospital in critical condition and pronounced deceased on February 23, 2024.
The crash details are as follows: V1 (suspect vehicle) was traveling eastbound on Poinciana Boulevard approaching State Road 535 in the outside lane. P1 (Bicyclist) was traveling eastbound to Poinciana Boulevard approaching State Road 535 on the outside paved shoulder. V1 Driver failed to maintain a single lane drifted towards the outside shoulder and struck P1. Post-collision, V1 fled the scene.
Investigators were able to obtain two videos. The first video shows the suspect stopping the vehicle (silver Hyundai Elantra) in the eastbound outside lane on Poinciana Blvd just west of State Road 535. The suspect then exits the vehicle and walks over to the bicyclist. The second video shows the suspect running back to the vehicle and fleeing the scene.
The suspect vehicle should have damage to the front right. Currently, there is no further information on V1 or V1 Driver. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call FHP at 407-737-2213 OR CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS.
