On 04/09/2024, at approximately 7:48 p.m., Troop F in Westbrook received a 911 call reporting an active disturbance at a residence located on Main St. in Essex.

Troopers and Essex Officers responded to the scene and met with two victims, both reported they were not injured. The victims explained that two males, who were known to them, forced entry into their apartment, and one was brandishing a knife. One of the victims was able to gain control of the knife and the two male suspects then fled from the residence on foot. Investigators processed the knife as evidence in this investigation.

One of the victims explained to investigators that they and the two suspects, identified as Jacob Olsen, DOB 07/12/2003 of Essex, and Jaidan Amendola, DOB 06/16/2005, of Essex, had been involved in a dispute at another location shortly before the incident at the residence occurred.

A CSP K9 team was promptly deployed in the area. However, the suspects were not immediately located.

At approximately 10:18 pm while traveling to Olsen’s last known address, investigators observed a vehicle associated with a family member of Olsen’s parked at a gas station on Main Street in Centerbrook. Upon approaching the vehicle, Officers located Olsen and Amendola crouched down inside of the vehicle, attempting to conceal themselves. Olsen and Amendola were then detained for the purposes of the investigation.

When asked about the incident at the victim’s residence, Olsen acknowledged that he had “kicked” the door to the residence and that he had displayed a knife. When asked about the whereabouts of the knife, Olsen also acknowledged that one of the victims had taken it from him.

Amendola explained to investigators that he had entered into the victims’ residence but declined to provide any further information.
