
Two Tremontan-Garland, Utah, Police officers were shot and killed Sunday night while responding to a domestic violence incident in Tremontan. A Box Elder County Sheriff’s deputy and his K-9 partner were wounded.
Local media reports that the charging documents for the suspect say he opened fire on the officers and deputy with a rifle.
The slain officers have been identified as Sgt. Lee Sorensen and Officer Eric Estrada in a statement from the Tremontan-Garland PD.
The Box Elder County SO reports the wounded deputy and wounded K-9 suffered non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to recover.
Fox 13 Salt Lake City reports the suspect is Ryan Michael Bate. He was reportedly taken into custody at the scene.
Gov. Spencer J. Cox has ordered flags to fly half staff until the murdered officers are buried.
