Sanford Police Investigating Fatal Shooting

Sanford Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday night, around 9:30 p.m., in front of a residence in the 1800 block of West 3rd Street.

On July 20, 2024, shortly after 9:30 p.m., Sanford Police responded to a possible shooting in the area of West 3rd Street and Pomegranate Ave. Responding officers located a white pickup truck, partially submerged in the retention pond near that intersection.

A white male driver, later identified as Brandon Leo (D.O.B. 12/02/2001), was located inside the truck, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Based on the preliminary investigation, Brandon was meeting an unknown individual to sell a pair of headphones. He arrived at the residence at 1805 West 3rd Street and was waiting in his vehicle in the driveway. At least two unknown individuals approached the driver’s side of Brandon’s truck. During the interaction, Brandon began reversing out of the driveway, and then several gunshots were fired. The truck, still in reverse, continued into the retention pond, where it was located by Sanford Officers.

Sanford Investigators are asking for any information regarding the identity of the unknown individuals involved in this incident.
