The Laramie County (Wyoming) Sheriff’s Office has placed a billboard ad in downtown Denver to lure away Denver Police officers.

Denver is cutting $8.4 million from its police budget and the Laramie County SO’s ad reads: “Work in Wyoming, where breaking the law is still illegal & cops are funded!”

Laramie County Sheriff Brian Kozak told Wyoming News this move is a part of LCSO’s ongoing efforts to recruit from nationwide.

“We’ve been focusing on recruiting from Colorado for over a year now,” Kozak said. “Last year, in 2023, we focused a lot on digital advertising, social media (and) digital TV in the Colorado area, and we were very successful.”

The $8.4 million reduction in the Denver Police budget is proposed to help the city fund an $89.9 million program to support migrant aid. The services in the program will include housing, case management, workforce training, and transportation, among others.
