Former Norwich Police PBA President Arrested on Larceny Charges Following Connecticut State Police Investigation

On 01/25/2022, Members of the Central District Major Crime Squad were requested by the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney to investigate an alleged larceny of funds from the Norwich Police Benevolent Association by the organization’s former President, Ryan O’Connell.

Based on information and evidence obtained during the extensive investigation that followed, Detectives applied for and were granted a warrant for Ryan O’Connell’s arrest.

On 02/12/2024, after learning of the active warrant for his arrest, Ryan O’Connell, DOB 03/10/1981, turned himself into Central District Major Crime Detectives at Troop I in Bethany. O’Connell was taken into custody, processed, and charged with the following violation of Connecticut General Statutes:

C.G.S. 53a-124, Larceny in the Third Degree

O’Connell was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled for arraignment at Norwich Superior Court, on 02/27/2024.
